The Dillinger Escape Plan - The Dillinger Escape Plan EP (1997, Now or Never Records)

This six songs EP announced to the underground world that Mathcore was a genre that was there to stay and could have grand technicality just as the masterpieces of Rush or Yes in the Progressive Rock division. Released by Metalcore and Metal labels, The Dillinger Escape Plan would be linked to the Hardcore scene while being more exploratory and limitless than a genre. The precise times and the tight playing put DEP at the forefront of the Mathcore business.

Until this day, their debut EP might be one of the most interesting releases of the late 1990’s in the Hardcore scene. It inspired many imitators and followers but no other band could do what DEP has achieved.
